Plants with yellow flowers are probably the most eye catching plants you’ll have in your landscape. Having yellow flowers in your garden is possible almost all 12 months of the year!

This list of brightly colored flowers I have put together here represent some of the easy to grow yellow flowers of Spring through to the seasonal yellow flowers of Fall.

1.Forsythia

Forsythia is said to be the first flower to bloom in Spring. They grow almost anywhere in zones 5 to 9. There’s no better way to start the coming of Spring than with a burst of yellow colors trailing on graceful, arching branches. These things will get huge! A mature forsythia can be 10 to 12 feet tall and wide.

2. Thryallis

This tropical looking shrub is loved for it’s extremely long blooming season. It blooms off and on from Spring through Winter in milder zones. It is said to be only hardy in zones 9 and 10 but I live in 8B and have had mine survive through several freezes over the past four or five years.

3.Golden Rain Tree

The bright yellow flowers of the Rain tree last for over a month. Yellow is a rare color for small flowering trees. This shrub is relatively maintenance free and pest free and will require very little care once established.

4. Daffodils

Daffodils grow from bulbs that should be planted in the fall. They can start to bloom in late Winter or Early Spring. They are not fussy about soil conditions and are a pretty reliable plan. You can pretty much count on them spreading and coming back year after year.

5. Yellow Cape Honeysuckle

This brightly colored plant flowers in late summer through the fall. It can be trained on an arbor or trimmed into a large shrub. A favorite of hummingbirds, its a great late bloomer to help keep them fed through the end of the season.

6. Daylilies

Daylilies are a highly popular plant for many gardens. Daylilies continuously bloom spring through fall given the right conditions. They grow best in full sun. They are both deer and drought tolerant.

7. Chrysanthemums

These brightly colored flowers are mostly know for filling containers in the fall. Mums are a herbaceous perennial that if taken care of will come back in your garden year after year. Their tight growing habit with profuse blooming nature is a welcome addition to any garden landscape.

8. Rudbeckia

The seemingly ever blooming rudbeckia are a common yellow flower you may even see growing on the side of the road in some areas. It’s hardy in zones 4 to 9 and will reseed itself every year. It’s common names are “black eyed susan”, “ox eye”, or Gloriosa Daisy.

9. Yarrow

Yarrow is made up of tiny clusters of small flowers. Pollinators love it! These plants are easy to grow for beginners and are just the right mix of fine textures and bright colors to add to your garden beds.

10. Yellow Pansies

Although pansies come in many colors, I had to add these because of their cold weather bloom time. If you want to keep your garden bright every month of the year, you will definitely be utilizing pansies. In 8B their bloom time is fall through winter and will take some of the chilliest weather and continue to bloom when other plants are dormant.
